How to Learn Effectively

As a university lecturer I am always amazed how few students actually know about the art of learning. The majority of students do not know how to learn and of course, as in my case, no one ever bothered to demonstrate the technique learn. I struggled through high school, not because I’ve taken very seriously, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it more if I know the finer points of learning like college study skills, learn time management, how to take better notes, improve memory , taking tests, and handle stress examination.

When I was in school I was one of the kids who have great difficulty in achieving academic results even average. I barely scraped through every year and my parents actually suggested by the principle to take me out of school to follow the trades such as plumbing or electricity. Although there is nothing wrong with the trade (they are certainly one way to get a very rich) I have set my mind to go to university and get a degree. I remain convinced by my teacher that I would never meet the required standards and recommended that I leave school early.

Finally I managed to struggle through high school and I will never know how I managed to be accepted by a university in the first place. I registered for the BSc. degree in construction management.

I’m really struggling, until, in the second year of my study, I overheard a conversation between the contract manager and managing director of the company that I work. CEO asked my boss, manager of the contract, how he was able to build the biggest building in the country, doing his job MBA, playing golf, singing in church choir and was dated so many girls. I will never forget the answer to the contract manager. He said, ‘Reggie, learning is like getting the girls, after you crack the system you can get any girl. ”

Well, I did not hear the girl but I definitely heard the study. The next day I went to him and asked about cracking the system when it comes to studying. We sat for several hours because he was showing me some tricks and techniques on how to learn. It has a dramatic and immediate effect. I went to get the best student award in the third and fourth year. I did very well in my MBA studies and received an international best paper award for my PhD paper. And that was after I suggested to leave school in Year 10.

This experience has taught me that there are no students on the planet who can not benefit from learning study techniques. So if you are a student, find the “speed study” secrets you will NEVER be taught in schools, which will cut your learning time and the benefit to you for the rest of your life.
